Leaders Seminar Sat 24th

Today was probably one of the most important of the the whole trip.
With over 20 of us, it was more substantial, building on the foundation of the last Conference back in February. We had four main sessions - Titus 1, 2, 3 & a session on Evangelism. Maybe we should make the talks available online?? It was a really good day apart from the torrential rain especially what with a thin zinc roof. Our good friend Scott Simpson also attended which was great. May God Bless & keep you brother.

Thursday 22nd

An amazing thing happened today after our devotional in the morning. Anthony (far right, a friend of one of the wonderful Chefs) decided to give his life to CHRIST!

Wednesday 21st

We spent the morning and afternoon painting the outside of the school in Cousins Cove and also had a couple of interesting conversations with some people from the area. In the evening we went to New T in Negril for the bible study again. We had a good time and some good conversation although most of us were quite tired from the days work

Sunday 18th

We went back to The New Testament Church in Negril and had a very encouraging experience. We then returned to the resort where Kirk Roasted breadfruit and made us ackee and saltfish :)

Saturday 17th

Went to view some land on the way to see Ms Girlie and her sick mother. We Met her cousin Beverly and her husband John and had an in depth conversation about Jamaica and how we might raise funds for the Island. We Then went on a CRAZY bus journey with Cousins Cove United Football team to a match near Montego Bay. They won 2:1 (the whole team prays before every game)

Friday 16th

With the exception of Rob, who was not well, we all went up to Retreat Mountain to touch base with Pastor Derrick. He showed us a few new developments to the Church Building and also took us around the area a little.

Thursday 15th

Went to see Mr Shakes
(what a blessing)

Wednesday 14th

Met up with Kirk and Ricky. In the evening we attened the New Testament Church in Negril. There was a short teaching on prayer followed by a study in Nehemiah 2, which happened to be our devotion this morning (Praise God!). We were all amazed, even more so when we were asked to share our thoughts. Rob and Mark took the pulpit and shared some of the vision that God has given to them, they were followed by Mike, Neil, Will and Ricky

We Are back again!! Monday 12th - Arrival

We had a comfortable flight and thankfully had a smooth ride through customs. We met with Kirk at the airport and made our way to Rhodes Hall (where we are staying for the two weeks) via a food stop just outside of Montego Bay

Retta and tre

This is us with Lorretta & her son Latrelle, we met on the flight to Jamaica. Mark had a chance to pray with and for her, but we didn't take any contact details. But then a couple days later who do we see as we were standing in line at the cashpoint machine in Negril? Her, her son and his dad, we could hardly believe our eyes. Of all the places in the whole of Jamaica. We had a great opportunity to speak to her and then met up nearly everyday during our stay. She even came to Church with us one night. Please keep her, Latrelle & dad in your prayers.

A disciple & one not far from the kingdom

Kirk (left, who accepted Christ on Tuesday evening) & Ricky (who has run out of reasons why not to repent & embrace salvation) have been spending a great deal of time with us traveling, talking, eating even witnessing. Kirk attended Church four times & Ricky twice. We were up until 12.30am one night discussing the fall, with Adam & Eve in the garden of Eden. These two did most of the talking recounting the well known story in their own limited way dramatically with actions.....it was hilarious and yet eye opening for the both of them. Please keep them both in your prayers

FILM NIGHT
The children at Cousin's Cove

Tuesday 16th

THE GOSPEL ABOUT MR INCREDIBLE
About 60 people came out this evening for the film night. First up was the incredibles for the children, after which we talked about the real Mr incredible - 'Jesus'......& the war between good & evil. Then afterwards we all (incl the kids who didn't want to leave) watched 'The Gospel' http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0451069/ it was big! Kirk who we met at Negril as we were sharing the gospel last Saturday came with us.....& at the end of the film he responded to the invitation of Salvation after I shared from Luke 15 (the prodigal son) I didn't ask for anything other than a show of hands, but Kirk & another young lady who was crying, both left their seats & came to the front, at which point we prayed for them to accept Christ. It was just the sovereign hand of God let me tell you. Thank you for co laboring with us in prayer.

Monday 15th

It's no longer cricket.....Fornication is the new national sport!!

Had Vessel & Oniel collect chairs (for film nights at the basic school) from Lucea, this afternoon, 50 in total. Had to leave Sabena at the resort because she is being collected by her uncle & going back to Kingston, she was such a blessing to us over the weekend, we're going to miss her. Film night tonight is 'The Family Man' (Nicholas Cage) It gave us the opportunity afterwards to talk about the family......or the dire lack of it in Jamaica......people do recognise the problem but so many feel unable to commit, women as well as men, promiscuity & Aids are rife. The LORD really helped us to outline God's perspective on the family & challenge the ungodly status quo.

Sunday 14th

Mark preaching - God is the perfect Father, at retreat Mountain.
I spoke at the morning service 'Fathers hold the key' we had a really good turnout, the building hardly had seats left. Here is Marky doing the evening service and Loretta (young lady we met on the plane) linked up with us and came to church and heard the message, she wanted to turn to every verse following Mark as I sat next to her helping her to find them in the bible. The LORD has affected her deeply she calls us up and we speak every day with her and her partner. They will be coming over in the week to spend time with us at our resort. Please pray that The LORD will continue to work.

Evangelism in Negril

Today we went out to Negril town centre and had a tremendous time sharing the gospel. 95% of people stopped and were happy to talk extensively and no one needed to be convinced of the existence of God, every single person had an awareness of their own sinfulness and need for a saviour. One young man actually prayed on the street asking God to forgive him of his sin and save him. The soil is fallow and just needs watering may God help us as we look to Him for the harvest. This is Mark talking to Ricky who is hustling by selling copyrighted CD's, please pray that he would trust The LORD to meet his needs legitimately, in Jamaica that is nothing short of a miracle, but God is able. Ricky's friend Kirk, said that he is going to link us tomorrow to go to church, we are hoping that he keeps his word.

Wow......The LORD is at work

This is so amazing God is able to do exceedingly, abundantly, above that which we can ask or think (Eph 3v20)
Whilst we were in Jamaica last year we got to meet, spend time and share the gospel with Steve. He became a part of the family
socially (we are hoping that soon it will also be spiritually) and it was just a blessing getting to know him and vice-versa. Well when we separated last year, no one had obtained any contact details for him and we were all pulling our hair out in frustration. Lo and behold 6 months later, staying at the same resort, guess who has just arrived and is in a room on the same floor as us? STEVE. We were so shocked it felt like the surprise that the disciples experienced upon The LORD Jesus appearing after the resurrection, we just couldn't believe it. He was actually supposed to arrive the day after us but treacherous conditions in the states prevented his flight from taking off (23 inches of snow) Well he went to a wedding today so we are hoping to catch up with him on Monday because we will be at church at Retreat Mountain all day tomorrow. Please pray that The LORD would complete the work that he has started in Steve........Wow.

Jamaica Mission Early 2010

Hi everyone, Mark and myself are back in Jamaica on a 2 man, 2 week mission. Teaching a one day Pastors seminar, preaching in a few Churches starting with Retreat Mountain this Sunday morning and evening. Film nights in both C.Cove and R.Mountain, also doing a 6 part introduction to the gospel with, Vessel, Fatta, Conroy, Stanley and anyone else who will turn up. We will be doing an evangelistic demographic survey, obtaining info on saved or unsaved, church attendance, marital status etc...trying to ascertain a clearer picture as to where people are at and passing out christian material. Please pray that our itinerary would be realistic, flexible and that we would adjust where necessary. Sabena will be joining us today from Kingston for a few days.
We had a tremendous divine appointment on the plane, please pray that The Lord will work through those conversations, which are ongoing. Continue to pray for Vessel, he went to church 3 weeks ago on his own volition and remembered specifically what was preached outlining it for us. We spend a lot of time with him, pray that The LORD would open his heart and mind (Luke 24)
Pray for Anita (Rhodes Hall Plantation Restaurant) she fell the night before last and shattered her hip and is in Mo Bay Hospital, they are transferring her to Kingston for immediate vital complicated treatment, also Opal Shakes who had one of her feet amputated due to a diabetic condition, which sadly is treatable. Please pray for more divine appointments. Pray for Jeridian, a young believer who we met last August 09 who is growing abundantly in grace (see video) he was working collecting bags outside a supermarket. Bless up
